This week’s travel around the web takes us to www.lifeclectic.com. They interviewed me a couple of weeks ago about starting a new business. As a follow up they asked me two questions about parenting. The first is about transitioning from being a Stay At Home Mom to being a Work At Home Mom and the challenges. The second, and really intriguing question is about how a woman who started working at home can get the adult interactions and alone time that she had really valued as a Working Out of the House Mom now that she is working from home.
I hope you’ll stop by, check it out and drop me a comment!
Excellent responses, what else would I expect, and good for the men who choose to be stay at home as well. I especially like one of your lines about modeling behavior for the children.
I agree, Papa Joe, by being selfless and caring, your children will learn how to be selfless and caring. Taking care of yourself is just as important because it teaches your kids that there are limits to being selfless. I always make sure I get some ‘me time’ in even if I can’t leave the house. One thing I do is set my son up with some toys, a drink, and a movie, make sure he’s fed, and pull out my headphones and laptop and cruise around the internet. I usually watch TV online or check out parenting blogs. It took a while for me to find a decent site but a coworker at DISH recommended DISH Online and I’ve been using it ever since. It has movies and shows available on demand so I don’t have to plan a certain time or set a recording. Thanks for sharing Dr. G!
That is a great tip – next laundry folding night I’m checking out DISH online! Thanks!
